The Skill India Mission is one of the flagship projects of Government of India launched under the inspirational leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to create convergence across sectors and states for youth empowerment.
To achieve the vision of ‘Skilled India’, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble the then Union Cabinet Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and MoP&NG, Government of India, had strongly urged on all the stakeholders to focus on “scaling up and speeding the Skill India Mission”.
Architect of Skill Development Institutes under Skill India Mission; Shri Dharmendra Pradhan took great interest in developing skill sets in the Hydrocarbon sector. It is under his dynamic leadership that MoP&NG in 2016, took initiatives to set up several Skill Development Institutes for skill training of unemployed and underprivileged youth.
In this regard, SDI Bhubaneswar is the first skill academy set-up in the Hydrocarbon Sector in the capital city of Odisha; inaugurated on 9th May 2016. At SDI Bhubaneswar students are helped to realize their true potential and get the opportunities they deserve.
SDI is a unique initiative by MoP&NG, wherein all PSUs in the Oil & Gas Sector i.e. IOCL, ONGC, GAIL, HPCL, BPCL, OIL, EIL and Balmer Lawrie have joined hands for this noble cause of setting up several major Skill Development Institutes across India.
In this line, Odisha got the Oil Ministry’s first Skill Development Institute (SDI) at the State Capital. Following this, five more SDIs, i.e. Vizag, Kochi, Guwahati, Raebareli, Ahmedabad have been established and few more are being set up.
IOCL, being the anchor investor of SDI Bhubaneswar, is committed for its major initiative to fulfil the collective dream of making SDI as a premier skill development academy in the country.
